What are the three types of small steam sterilisers?

2023-10-17

There are three typical types of compact steam sterilizers:

Steam sterilizers that use gravity displacement to remove air from the sterilizing chamber are the most prevalent kind of small steam sterilizers. Air is displaced by the steam as it enters the chamber and leaves through a vent. After the air is gone, the steam stays in the chamber for the specified amount of time to sterilize it.

Pre-vacuum steam sterilizers: In these sterilizers, the air in the chamber is drawn out and replaced with steam using a cycle of alternating vacuum and pressure. Prior to sterilization, air is taken out of the chamber, allowing steam to contact every surface of the load. These sterilizers are frequently used in medical facilities and operating rooms.

Sterilizers that use a steam flush pressure pulse (SFPP): These sterilizers use both pressure and gravity to expel air from the chamber. They first remove air using a vacuum, then they add steam, and finally they remove the steam by cleansing it with sterile water or air before applying pressure. For heat- and moisture-sensitive objects like medical instruments, lab equipment, and electronics, SFPP sterilizers are excellent.
